“Viddsee” Short films community launches the new mobile web app

Viddsee

Viddsee is launching a new mobile web app to provide a seamless experience for its growing mobile user base. The Singapore-based startup sets its eyes to become the leading online micro-cinema platform for Southeast Asia.

Viddsee is a targeted online video platform for short films around Southeast Asia. Co-founded by filmmaker-engineers Ho Jia Jian and Derek Tan, the team is passionate about the marriage between art and technology and aims to grow the community of short film audience by enabling a wide and accessible market reach for short films.

With 40% of Viddsee audience on mobile, the new mobile web app enables audience to discover, watch and share regional content right at their fingertips on any mobile devices.

Audience can pivot content around topics, genre and countries and discover related and trending films. And audience can rate films based on micro-ratings like story, acting, camera and sound. Audience can now carry on conversations on their existing social networks like Twitter and Facebook easily with the new version.

“We built Viddsee to create an accessible way for audience to watch the best local short films on their desktop and now on their mobile devices,” says Jia Jian, co-founder of Viddsee. “We believe that micro-cinema short films are the new movies for the social web age. We work closely with Facebook as a distribution channel to create a seamless experience for users to discover our short films. With a mix of curation and social discovery of content, we hope to showcase a variety of uniques stories shot by Southeast Asian filmmakers, and to empower the audience to discover new content from their very own countries.”

Since the launch of its desktop web app in late January, Viddsee has partnered with filmmakers and film festivals to bring curated channels of content. The platform has also opened call for submissions where regional content creators can submit their films or audience can recommend films to showcase on Viddsee. Here’s a breakdown around the films and audience consumption patterns:

Audience can login to the Viddsee mobile web app at viddsee.com on their mobile devices to watch over 150 short films from Southeast Asia, free of charge.
